The Little Things… Being thankful even when your circumstances do not ooze thanksgiving.

Good Evening Everyone!

With Thanksgiving approaching soon, I just wanted to say do not wait to start appreciating the little things in life.

What are these little things you speak of? I am having a terrible day and have nothing to be thankful for… If this is how you are thinking right now, there are some things you should consider….

Do you really think that it was the alarm clock that woke you up this morning? Wait…. So you are trying to say that if you died in your sleep that the alarm clock has the power to wake you? It cannot…. I know it was the Lord who decided to fill your lungs with the gift of the breath of Life for one more day to try and get this thing called life right.

So I am thankful that God woke me up this morning clothed me in my right mind and sent me on my way because there are so many people who can’t say the same.

I always say that a day above ground is a good day in my book.

I am thankful that I have all my limbs intact. I am thankful for running water. I am thankful for having clothes on my body. I am thankful for having a roof over my head. I am thankful for having a family that loves me. I am thankful for having an amazing son and an awesome wife. She stuck by me when friends and even family members abandoned me. She has always supported me. Thank God for my wife…

I am thankful for having food on the table. I am thankful for having a job. I am thankful that I can breathe unassisted. I am thankful that I can walk or run God willing. I am thankful I can speak and think and move independently.

I am thankful that I’m alive. I am thankful that I have been redeemed and that the Lord uses me to be a blessing to other people. I am thankful to God for His love. Even at those times when I was unloveable. I am thankful that God loves us so much. If we were the only people on the face of the planet. He would have still sent his only son Jesus to die on the cross just for us because he loves us that much.

We as people cannot comprehend the depth of that love.

What are you thankful for today?

I find find that on the worst day of my life, God is still good to me. He is still blessing me, even if I don’t see the blessings and am focused on the bad circumstances. Maybe all I can see are the bad things that are going on in my life, or I am stuck in the past thinking of how things could have been. Like before I had a brain injury… I am learning that the plan I had for my life wasn’t the best plan. I am trusting in His plan for my life. I know that all of the promises of God are Yes and Amen.

by faith I confidently stand upon God’s Word in the scripture below. I will trust that he has the better plan for my life.

Romans 8:28

All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose for them.

So what does this verse mean whenever the thing that happens to me I don’t see as good?

it means that God in his goodness in his love, in his faithfulness, is working the situation out for your good in the end. Even if you can’t see it right now God is going to get the glory out of this situation.

Jeremy Camp The Story’s Not Over

Does this verse say that you’re not going to have any trouble than life? Absolutely not!

In Fact:

John 16:33

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]

If you are in trouble… Just run to Jesus in prayer.

Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, But the Lord rescues him from them all. – Psalm 34:19

He will bring you through and walk with you.

Third Day – Mountain of God

Psalm 50:14 (AMP)

Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving
And pay your vows to the Most High;

I believe that the the indication of this verse of the “sacrifice of thanksgiving” means that it’s not always going to be easy to be thankful.

But I challenge you that even if you are going through the worst day of your life. Find something to be thankful for and just start taking some time to thank God. You will find that you can’t be sad, angry, mad and thankful to God at the same time. it will change your thoughts. It will change your attitude. it will even begin to change the outcome of your day.

I challenge you to be different
